    Why learn Arabic?


Arabic is the 5th most spoken language in the world with over 300 million speakers and is an official language in Egypt, Morocco, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Syria, Jordan, Libya, Tunisia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Yemen, Israel, Iraq, Chad, Comoros islands, Mauritania, Sudan, Djibouti, Eritrea, Chad and Somalia.

Arabic is a beautiful, expressive language with a pretty script and the countries where it is spoken are diverse and culturally rich. Often when we think of Arab countries, we think of sweeping deserts that go on as far as the eye can see, interrupted only by the occasional oasis. This is true in some areas, but North Africa and Arabia also hold many secrets such as stunning wadis (ravines) with waterfalls, rivers and lush vegetation, mountains covered in snow within just a few miles from the sunny coastline and small mountain villages perched upon hills in the mist. Along with these secrets, we also find the beauty and culture for which the Arab countries are famed such as the bustling, colourful markets scented with incense and spices, snorkelling in the reefs of the Red Sea, sailing down the nile on a felucca at sunset, ancient relics and history that goes back thousands of years. The numbers 1 to 10 in Arabic have not changed for over 3000 years!!!

ABOUT YOUR TUTOR

​

Nelly is a native speaking Arabic tutor and teaches Modern Standard Arabic, Egyptian Arabic and French.

Nelly was born in Port Said in Egypt and studied French literature at university before moving to the UK where she has been living since. Nelly has taught in various schools and has been teaching for many years in schools and as a private tutor of Arabic and French.

Nelly is an excellent tutor and will guide you step by step towards speaking either Arabic or French with confidence.

  • Lessons take place at the the tutor's home in Chatham or the tutor can travel directly to your house to teach if you prefer

  • Lessons last one approximately hour

  • Lessons are payable in cash unless otherwise agreed with your tutor

  • Most materials are provided but it is advisable to bring a notepad and pen

  • You can discontinue lessons at any time at no cost
